Art for Self-Care When Times are Tough
Beginners welcome! ❤️ This is not at all about skill, talent or results. It's about enjoying the meditative qualities of an art practice as a way of finding peace and calm.

About the event
Join us for a beautiful, peaceful hour of art and self-care, live on zoom.
Personal Transformation Coach Karla Smith will lead us in a self-care practice as well as some intention setting, and then we will do a simple exploratory art project led by me, Laura-Jean Bernhardson.
This session is not about results or technique; rather it's about creating time for yourself to experiment with art as a means of finding calm even when circumstances are hard. And, if building skills and technique is your goal, creating an art practice is the route to getting there.
An art practice is what saved me during some of the hardest times of my life. I could find moments to escape into learning something new, trying a new technique or medium, and over time I realized I had found my happy place. It's now my passion to share this with others and help them experience the healing powers of an art practice.
Suggested art supplies: watercolour paints, paper and paint brush as well as a permanent marker such as a Sharpie.
If you don't have these supplies, you can easily adapt the project for whatever you have on hand. Even a ballpoint pen and paper will work!

Here's what some past attendees had to say:
"I loved the simple instructions. I always feel a block when thinking about using art as a mindfulness practice. I would have never painted what I did if I was on my own. I'm excited about including more art as self-care in my life :)"
"This event was so relaxing and it was nice to get out of my head and just create. I have been looking for a creative outlet for some time and this was perfect! The time flew by also, when Karla came on to close out the event I was shocked that it was already over. Thank you all for your generosity and for giving from your heart, it came through. <3"
"Amazing event! First time I have painted with watercolours since my Elementary School days! I loved it!"
"Karla, I appreciated your breathing exercise as well as your "Intention" and "Feeling the process of creating" questions. You always make me think about things in a different way!"
"Thanks so much for sharing your arts skills, Laura-Jean - for helping me know where to start, and giving me the permission just to do my own thing!"
